Titleist is probably the brand least associated with value (when it comes to golf balls), but depending on your requirements, you can find good-value Titleist golf balls.

The vast majority of golfers will at some point in their golfing career play or have played with a Titleist golf ball. Rather than playing with just any Titleist model, this list of the best Titleist golf balls will help you settle on the best model for your game.

Best Titleist golf balls 2023 1 Titleist Pro V1

The most played golf ball in the professional game

Best premium golf balls on Tour Price: £47.95 Buy Now Price: £47.95 Buy Now Titleist have been manufacturing iterations of the Pro V1 since the early 2000s. Since they were first introduced they've been a massive hit in the professional game and among amateurs. Not only is the Pro V1 the most-played golf ball on Tour, but it's also the most successful ball. The Pro V1 can be found in the bags of some of the greatest PGA and LPGA Tour players.

In our extensive golf ball robot test, the Titleist Pro V1 didn't come out as the No.1 golf ball even though it's the No.1 ball in golf. By no means did it underperform or perform badly in any category (as you would expect), but it didn't blow our socks off. What you can expect from this ball that no numbers can ever prove is unbelievable feel, fantastic feedback, and consistent ball flight and performance.

Titleist's answer for the amateur golfers who don't need to play with premium golf balls

Best amateur-level golf balls by Titleist Price: £37.95 Buy Now Price: £37.95 Buy Now Not every golfer needs to play with premium golf balls, and Titleist offers a couple of golf balls for those golfers who still want a certain level of performance from their golf ball without paying the premium price. The first amateur-level golf ball in Titleist's line-up is the Tour Speed.

I really like this ball, especially when the wind is howling because they travel far and relatively low. One thing you will notice if you play with these golf balls is they don't spin as much greenside as Titleist's premium golf balls but that's the sacrifice for saving money on your golf balls. In my opinion, for the vast majority of golfers, the savings are worth it for the small loss in performance.

Price: £44.95 Buy Now If you swing like Justin Thomas or Danielle Kang then it might pay to play with Titleist Pro V1x golf balls. These balls are often overshadowed by the Pro V1, but are they better? In our robot test, the Pro V1x did perform better than the Pro V1 but it's hard to argue with the success of the Pro V1 on Tour.

If you're unsure which model to go for, the Pro V1x flies slightly higher than the Pro V1x, around the greens the performance is very similar (in our robot test the Pro V1x just edged the Pro V1), and is just as long off the tee as the Pro V1. The main difference between these balls is feel - Pro V1x is noticeably firmer which might be a red flag for some golfers.

Titleist softest golf ball

Best value Titleist golf balls Price: £29.95 Buy Now Price: £29.95 Buy Now This is the second golf ball Titleist offers that falls into the amateur-level category of golf balls that are aimed at those not wanting to sacrifice too much performance but don't want to pay the high price. Tour Soft golf balls are Titleists' best value-for-money option because the feel and performance is still incredibly high but the price is much lower than the price wanted for Pro V1, Pro V1x, or AVX.

Being Titleist's softest golf ball they will please the vast majority of amateur golfers who appreciate that cushioned feedback after every shot. Titleist are capable of making this ball feel extremely soft because of the lower compression which won't suit every golfer, but those they do, they're an incredible option at a fraction of the price of the premium models.

A premium option for those with moderate swing speeds

Best premium Titleist golf balls for those who don't swing like the pros Price: £47.99 Buy Now Price: £47.99 Buy Now Until the AVX was brought out by Titleist in 2018, anybody who wanted to play with a premium Titleist golf ball that didn't quite have the swing speed to get the most out of the Pro V1 or Pro V1x had no options. However, since the introduction of the AVX, those players with more moderate swing speeds who want all the advantages of playing with a premium golf ball have a ball tailor-made for them.

The AVX might not be as popular as the Pro V1 or Pro V1x but for the right player this a brilliant ball which flies lower than both other premium Titleist golf balls - meaning it doesn't spin as much around the greens. Nevertheless, that can be overlooked once you feel the quality and see the performance of this premium golf ball.

Fantastic distance golf balls for beginners and high-handicappers

Best distance two-piece Titleist golf balls Price: £25.95 Buy Now Price: £25.95 Buy Now This is Titleist's out-and-out distance golf ball intended for beginners and high-handicappers, but I know plenty of better golfers who still turn to this golf ball from time to time when they really want to crank up the distance. With an 84 compression rating, it's not most suitable for those with slower swing speeds even though the core is relatively easy to compress.

Being a two-piece distance golf ball it is very reasonably priced for Titleist and it's competitive with other golf balls in this category. If you decide to purchase a dozen Velocity golf balls you won't be disappointed - just don't expect the softest feeling or best greenside performance.

Rrp: £24.00

Price: £21.95 Buy Now If you don't have the quickest swing speed but you still wish to play with a Titleist golf ball that doesn't break the bank - this is the ball for you. Titleist's TruFeel is the lowest compression golf ball in their line-up and it's incredibly soft as well. The ball travels very low compared to other similar golf balls from other manufacturers but it helps to keep the ball out of the wind and run farther down the fairway.

Around the greens, you don't get a crazy amount of spin and control but you quickly adapt and play for the rollout. On the greens, this is a fantastic ball which feels amazing off the putter face and thanks to the alignment aid it's very easy to line up and trust.

Best Titleist golf balls: Buying GuideHow to determine which are the best Titleist golf balls for you

As with any purchase of golf equipment, it’s always important to make a smart choice and not just buy whatever everyone else is using or what your buddy suggests. I want to help you make the best decision for your game and find the perfect Titleist model to help you better your scores and lower your handicap.

Ability

The first thing you should consider when purchasing golf balls is your skill level – the more honest you are the better! This can help you pick something cheaper than what you tend to go for or it might make you upgrade your golf balls and improve your golf game. Either is a win, right?

Budget

If you set yourself a budget when buying golf balls there’s absolutely zero issues with that. It can help you whittle down your options and give you more budget on other pieces of golf equipment. The only downside to budgeting with golf balls is it might make you pick a ball that won’t help you. So, be careful your budget isn’t too low for your ability, and forces you to play with a ball that won’t benefit your game.

Feel

Most golfers prefer soft feeling golf balls over firmer options. Fortunately, Titleist doesn’t offer a firm golf ball. Some models are firmer or softer than others but you won’t be disappointed with the feel of any of Titleist’s offerings.

Tour approval

If you’re a golfer who wants to play with the same ball as the best in the world, then there isn’t a better brand for that than Titleist. Their Pro V1 and Pro V1x golf balls are the most played on every professional Tour.

Best Titleist golf balls: FAQs Why are Titleist Pro V1s so good?

Titleist Pro V1s are very impressive golf balls that perform exceptionally well for a wide range of golfers, including some of the best players in the world which helps them to be positioned as the No.1 ball in golf. The reason they are impressive is because of how consistently they perform from tee to green. However, if you ask people who dislike Pro V1s I’m sure you’ll be told something different.

Can high-handicappers use Titleist Pro V1s?

Yes. Does this mean that high-handicappers should use Titleist Pro V1s? Probably not. For most high-handicap golfers they’d be better off spending less on golf balls and playing with golf balls tailored to their ability. Pro V1s are amazing golf balls that can work for high handicappers but there’s no need to be playing with them.

How do I find the best golf ball for me?

Sometimes you can just stumble across the perfect ball which is incredible. However, more often than not it can take time because there are almost certainly multiple golf balls that’ll work for every individual. The best way to find the best golf ball for you is to do as much research as possible and then try as many of the possible options until you find the one. When you know… you know.

Are Titleist golf balls the best?

It depends on who you ask, but it is hard to argue with the fact that they are the most-played golf ball brand on Tour and the owner of the No.1 golf ball. Other brands do manufacture quality golf balls that rival all Titleist models so it’s personal preference as to whether you think Titleist golf balls are the best or if another brand is.

How we test the best Titleist golf balls

Titleist’s golf balls are arguably the best on the market and the benchmark for every other manufacturer to reach or surpass. However, that doesn’t impact the way in which we test their golf balls. We test Titleist golf balls the same way in which we test any other brands models. Our testing process includes seeing how they perform both on and off the course. When testing golf balls we’re always looking out for feel, sound, durability, distance, spin, and control – along with anything else attributed to specific golf balls.

We have recently conducted our second very intensive golf ball robot test, in which certain Titleist golf balls were thoroughly tested. In order to test every golf ball available, if the brands are reluctant to send us their products we acquire them ourselves to provide you with all the necessary information to help you buy better. If you would like to read more about how we test golf equipment you can do so here.
